Dr. Lauren Smith

Dr. Lauren Smith grew up in Fort Wright, Kentucky. She received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Dayton in Ohio. She earned her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. While obtaining her doctorate, Dr. Smith also achieved a Master’s of Science in Healthcare Management and Administration. She completed her surgical residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where she served as chief resident her final year. She also completed an advanced reconstructive fellowship in Germany. Dr. Smith also works at the Columbus Regional Wound Care Center. She is trained in non-operative and operative treatment of both the foot and ankle. She is a board certified with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Dr. Smith is a highly skilled and compassionate wound care specialist with experience in providing advanced care for individuals with complex and chronic wounds. She has a deep understanding of the latest wound care techniques, including advanced dressings, skin grafts, debridement, wound vac management, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and surgical management, as well as commitment to patient-centered care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Smith has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, private practice and outpatient clinics, treating patients with a wide range of conditions such as diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, and surgical wounds.
A dedicated advocate for patient education, Dr. Smith takes time to ensure patients and their families understand the healing process and how to manage wounds at home. In addition to clinical care, she is actively involved in research and continuous education to stay at the forefront of evolving wound care practices and innovations. She is a member of the Wound Healing Society. Dr. Smith has lectured on the topic of wound care at both local and international wound care conferences.
